Volunteers are the foundation of our communities and of Richmond County as a whole. Their passion, dedication, and selfless commitment strengthen our communities, support local organizations, and enrich the lives of those around them.
To recognize the many volunteers, groups, and organizations that help shape Richmond County, we are pleased to expand our recognition program to include the following:
- Richmond County Volunteer of the Month
This recognition celebrates a Richmond County volunteer who has made a significant and positive impact within their community through their dedication, service, and commitment to helping others.
- In Memoriam Volunteer Recognition
This recognition honours individuals who have passed away but whose passion, generosity, and selfless dedication continue to inspire and strengthen the community organizations they served. Their legacy lives on through the lasting impact they made and the lives they touched.
- Richmond County Group/Organization Recognition
Community groups and organizations play a vital role in the strength, well-being, and vibrancy of Richmond County. Through their collective commitment, compassion, and service, they foster connections, address local needs, and enhance the quality of life for residents. This recognition celebrates the invaluable contributions these groups and organizations make to our communities every day.

Volunteers of the Month, June 2026
Ian McKinnon and Philip Landry
Ian and Philip are invaluable members of St. Joseph’s Parish Hall Committee and the church community in Petit-de-Grat. They are always willing to lend a helping hand, whether it involves cooking, cleaning, painting, decorating, or assisting with community events. Their dedication and enthusiasm play an important role in the planning and success of all activities.
Dependable and hardworking, Ian and Philip consistently go above and beyond in their service to the community. They generously give their time and support to numerous causes throughout Isle Madame, demonstrating a strong commitment to helping others. In addition to their volunteer efforts, they are active members of the Petit-de-Grat church choir.
Ian and Philip exemplify the spirit of volunteerism and community service. Their kindness, compassion, and unwavering commitment inspire those around them, and their contributions have touched the lives of countless people. We are truly grateful to have them as members of our community and are proud to recognize the positive impact they continue to make.

Volunteer of the Month, May 2026
Marvin MacLean
Chief Marvin MacLean is a twenty-year veteran of the St. Peter’s District Volunteer Fire Department whose commitment extends far beyond responding to emergency calls. His exceptional dedication to the community, combined with his leadership, experience, and steady presence, has made a lasting impact both within the department and throughout the community he proudly serves.
Beyond his role in fire services, Marvin generously gives his time to several local initiatives. He has devoted countless hours as a committee member at the St. Peter’s Gym, helping to ensure it remains a welcoming and valuable space for people of all ages. He is also an active member of the working committee for the local ATV club, contributing to the development and maintenance of recreational opportunities in the area.
Marvin is widely known for his dedication, care, and compassion. Always willing to lend a hand, he supports fellow firefighters, assists community members, and steps up wherever help is needed. His positive attitude and strong sense of community make him a natural role model and a person others deeply respect and look up to.

Volunteer of the Month, April 2026
Donald Kehoe
Donald Kehoe has been a dedicated and longstanding contributor to his community, consistently leading by example through his volunteerism and service on numerous boards and initiatives. Most notably, Donald played a key leadership role in the construction of the new community playground in Arichat, adjacent to École Beau-Port.
Donald generously dedicated more than 50 volunteer hours to this project, coordinating dozens of volunteers and donating his own materials, equipment, and fuel to ensure its success. His hands-on leadership, tireless work ethic, and positive attitude were instrumental in keeping the project moving forward and motivating everyone involved.
Beyond the hours and resources he contributed, Donald brought people together, fostering a strong sense of community pride and collaboration. Thanks to his vision, leadership, and commitment, the playground is now a completed space that reflects the very best of Arichat’s spirit of volunteerism.
We are incredibly fortunate to have Donald as a leader in our community.

Volunteer of the Month, March 2026
Wayne Bona 
Wayne has been a dedicated member of the Community Services Society Board of Directors for over forty years, serving as President and Chair of Policy and Procedures.
He is widely recognized for his volunteer work as a musician, entertaining residents in nursing homes across Richmond and Inverness Counties and performing at community events and fundraisers. Wayne also leads Gerry’s Music Circle at the River Bourgeois Anne Sampson Building and spends many hours setting up and supporting sound systems for these gatherings.

Volunteer of the Month, February 2026
Nikki Carter
Nikki Carter is a dedicated volunteer with St. Louis Parish, where she has generously contributed countless volunteer hours to her community, supporting the religious education program, leading First Communion preparations and coordinating the children’s Christmas pageant for many years.
Beyond the parish, Nikki has organized major community events, including the New Year’s Dance, craft markets, and Canada Day celebrations at the parish hall. Her dedication, warmth, and willingness to step forward inspire others to get involved, strengthening community bonds and enhancing the vibrancy of Louisdale. Nikki’s ongoing contributions continue to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those around her.
