In Memoriam Volunteer Recognition

Some people leave an unforgettable mark on their communities through their kindness, generosity, and dedication to others. Jean Pottie was one of those people. Caring, compassionate, and community-minded, Jean touched countless lives through her volunteer service and unwavering commitment to helping others.

Jean generously shared her time and talents with numerous organizations, including her church, the L’Ardoise Jolly Club, and the Seniors Take Action Coalition. She was always willing to lend a hand and could be counted on whenever support was needed.

Whether assisting with Acadian Days celebrations, helping organize St. Patrick’s Day events, decorating floats, setting up community gatherings, or coordinating supplies, Jean approached every task with enthusiasm and determination. Her positive attitude, warm smile, and welcoming nature made her a pleasure to work alongside and a valued member of every team.

Music was also an important part of Jean’s life. She was an active member of her church choir and enjoyed sharing her love of singing at the Jolly Club’s monthly live music events. Her joyful spirit and vibrant personality brought happiness to those around her.

Jean’s kind heart, generous spirit, and dedication to her community have left a lasting legacy. She will be remembered not only for her many contributions, but also for the friendship, compassion, and encouragement she shared so freely with others.

Annette Fougere’s commitment to helping others was evident throughout her life, both in her professional career and through her many contributions to the community she loved.

A dedicated volunteer, Annette was actively involved with the D’Escousse Civic Improvement Society for many years, serving as secretary and always lending a helping hand wherever it was needed. She was equally committed to the D’Escousse Bursary Society, helping support local students as they pursued their educational goals. Annette also played an important role in establishing the Square Roots food security program at the D’Escousse Hall, helping strengthen community support for families in need.

A woman of deep faith, Annette was devoted to her church and parish community. Blessed with a beautiful singing voice, she shared her gift through numerous church choirs over the years, enhancing celebrations while bringing comfort and joy to those around her.

Her service extended directly to those in need through her work with the Meals on Wheels program. Week after week, Annette faithfully delivered meals to residents throughout Isle Madame, providing not only nourishment but also friendship and care.

Caring for others was at the heart of everything Annette did. She spent her professional life working in care, and that same compassionate spirit guided her volunteer work. Generous with her time, energy, and talents, she made a meaningful difference in the lives of countless people and helped build a stronger, more caring community. Annette’s legacy lives on in the organizations she strengthened and the individuals she supported.

Katie dedicated her time, energy, and compassion to serving both her country and her community. She proudly served in the Canadian Armed Forces for 16 years, with postings across Canada. Throughout her military career, she formed lasting friendships and touched many lives through her kindness, generosity, and unwavering support of others.

Beyond her military service, Katie was deeply committed to her family and community. While her husband and children were always her greatest priority, she also devoted countless hours to improving the lives of those around her in St. Peter’s. She volunteered with numerous local organizations and served on community boards, including the Richmond County Literacy Network, St. Peter’s Village Gym, and the St. Peter’s and Area Food Bank. She also supported the weekly Adult drop-in program, fundraising efforts for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, and community events such as St. Peter’s Pirate Days and Swim the Canal.

Katie was a bright light in the lives of all who knew her. She will be remembered for her warm smile, infectious laugh, and genuine commitment to helping others. Through her compassion and dedication, she strengthened her community and enriched the lives of countless people.
