As per Richmond County by-law no. 17, Solid Waste Management By-Law, loads of waste in excess of 200 Kg are subject to the following tipping fees (with the fee based on the actual total weight of the load as determined by the Municipal Solid Waste Management Facility):

Weights: Should the scale not be working, the tipping fee charges will be on a per load basis for which residential fees apply as follows: 1/2 ton truck or small trailer = $10.00 (residential customer); Single Axle = $50.00; Tandem truck = $75.00; Tractor trailer = $100.00.
Vehicles Registered To Commercial Enterprises (ICI Sector) As Well As Those Frequenting The Facility More Than Four (4) Times Per Month, Exceeding One Tonne Of Waste In A Single Visit, Or Are Hauling Waste Originating From Other Than Their Personal Household, Will Be Considered “Commercial” As It Relates To Tipping Fees.

For Your Information
If you are unsure if a material is approved for disposal at the Landfill facility you should call the Landfill at (902) 226-2396 or at the Municipal Office at (902) 226-2400 option #7 for further information.
Mixed loads may be sorted on-site by the hauler.
Loose material entering the facility must be covered to prevent site litter.
A load shall be classed as mixed if the contamination exceeds 10% of the volume weight.

Important Things To Remember When Utilizing The Landfill Facility
Cover All Loads
To prevent material from leaving the vehicle and creating unnecessary roadside litter.
Dress Accordingly
Work boots or rubber boots are the footwear of choice. Weather can change site conditions, so be prepared.
Segregate Material
When you are packing it for disposal, keep all the same items together such as metal, wood, leaf and yard waste. This will make your use of the facility much more efficient.
Weigh In and Out
All vehicles arriving at the facility are weighed in and out for disposal records.
Please cross the scale on every visit.
