Emergency Preparedness - Is Your Emergency Kit Ready?
An emergency can happen with little warning — power outages, storms, floods, and more. Being prepared can make all the difference.

When preparing your kit:
- Make sure your kit is easy to carry
- Everyone in the household should know where it is
- Check your kit twice a year
- Replace food and water at least once a year
What to include in your kit:
- Your household’s emergency plan
- 6 litres of water per person (2L per day)
- Non-perishable food that doesn’t require cooking
- Manual can opener
- First aid kit
- 3-day supply of any prescription medication
- Wind-up or battery-powered flashlight
- Wind-up or battery-powered radio
- Extra batteries
- Money in small bills
- Copies of important documents (ID, insurance, etc.)
Bonus Tips:
- Keep your car’s gas tank as full as possible
- Keep your cell phone fully charged

Notice of RFP-MOCR202514 – Surplus Property: Basin Rd Subdivision (Evanston, NS)
The Municipality of the County of Richmond (MOCR) has declared the Basin Rd Subdivision, PID# 75190801 & PID# 75190819, located on Basin Rd., Evanston, NS, surplus and will consider proposals from proponents for the purchase of the property. This property is currently not a core asset of the County and therefore would benefit more from development of the site as opposed to holding the land for future municipal use.
The detailed Request for Proposals is available from the Provincial Procurement Services Web Portal at https://procurement-portal.novascotia.ca/ or may be requested electronically by contacting the undersigned. Not necessarily the lowest or any bid will be accepted.
Request for Proposals may be submitted in a sealed envelope marked “RFP-MOCR202514”, or in an email to the undersigned with the subject line to read “RFP-MOCR202514”, no later than 2:00 pm on Thursday, Oct. 23, 2025.

The Municipality of the County of Richmond Public Works Department advises residents of Richmond County that the deadline for the submission of Water and/or Sewer Connection Applications for 2025 is Monday, October 6, 2025
Applications are available by clicking on https://www.richmondcounty.ca/documents/forms/1915-water-sewer-application-2022/file or by visiting the Municipal Administration Building in Arichat.

Annual Property Visits by PVSC Assessors
Property Valuation Services Corporation (PVSC) Assessors are especially busy this time of year, conducting exterior property inspections across Nova Scotia. They are reviewing building permit progress and gathering up-to-date information as part of the annual assessment process.
For your safety and peace of mind, PVSC Assessors can be identified by:
- PVSC-marked vehicles
- PVSC-issued photo ID
- High-visibility vests
🏡 You don’t need to be home for these visits. The Assessor will leave contact information and next steps if a follow-up is needed.
