Winter Play Bins

Looking for a fun way to spend a day outside? Our Play Bins are treasure chests filled with games, recreation equipment, fun activities and so much more. All you have to do is open up the Play Bin…and discover the treasures within!

Play Bins are a free and accessible way for children and their families to play outdoors. Play Bins are stationed at various community green spaces and contain a variety of recreational seasonal equipment such as shovels, sleds, snow molds, and more. When you are all played out please place all equipment back in the Play Bin.

The municipality is not liable nor responsible for the condition of the items in the playboxes. Parents/Guardians should inspect the equipment to ensure they are age appropriate and in good condition before use.

The Municipality of the County of Richmond is currently accepting applications for the position of By-Law Enforcement Officer.

Working under the direction of the Chief Administrative Officer, this position will be responsible for investigating and resolving complaints with respect to the enforcement of municipal by-laws, as well as, adhering to policies, by-laws, acts, and regulations of the municipality and the province of Nova Scotia. The By-Law Enforcement Officer is also responsible for public education and awareness programs and services to ensure the protection of residents, property, and employees. The By-Law Enforcement Officer will be required to conduct their duties in accordance with established policies and procedures as set out by the municipality, including communicating with the public, members of Council, and fellow staff, in such a manner as to facilitate harmonious relations.

The County Administration operates Monday to Friday from 08:30 to 16:00. This position may require occasional evening and weekend shifts as needed. Hours of work will vary depending on the requests for investigation and resolution of complaints. The Municipality has an approved salary scale for this position, with placement and incremental increases based on qualifications, experience, and demonstrated ability to perform the job responsibilities. Applications are once again open for the Micro-Loan Program!

Under the Micro-Loan Program, women+ entrepreneurs from across Unama’ki – Cape Breton are eligible to apply for a loan of up to $10,000 offered at a prime rate with zero percent interest and no payments for the first six months thanks to the Cape Breton Partnership’s Program Partners at the Sydney Credit Union or East Coast Credit Union.
