Notice of Public Hearing - Proposed Sale of Municipal Property
PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the Council of the Municipality of the County of Richmond will hold a Public Hearing to consider the proposed sale of municipal property.
The property is located at Lot 1A and 1B of Basin Rd Subdivision, Evanston, NS, AAN#09633618, PID# 75190801, and AAN#09633766, PID# 75190819, and has an appraisal value of $60,000. Council proposes to sell the property at less than market value, for $33,000, for the purpose of the development of twelve (12) affordable housing units as per the submitted tender proposal by Brela Construction.
Under Section 51 of the Municipal Government Act, a public hearing is required when municipal land is sold for less than market value. This provision allows Council to approve such sales to support developments that benefit the community.
Members of the public may attend and speak at the hearing or hand in written submissions, in favour of or in opposition to the proposed sale, at the Public Hearing. Written submissions may also be emailed to the Municipal Clerk by 4:00 p.m. on the date of the hearing.

At the Regular Council Meeting on December 16, 2025, Municipal Council adopted the following policies:
Hospitality Policy
Council reviewed and updated this policy to keep it aligned with the Municipal Financial Reporting and Accounting Manual and the Municipal Government Act.

NOTICE OF APPROVAL
PLEASE TAKE NOTICE THAT on December 16, 2025, the Council of the Municipality of the County of Richmond approved the following amendments:
- Proposed amendment to the Central Richmond Secondary Plan Area Land Use By-Laws to remove the requirement that accessory buildings must be located no closer to the street than the main building.
PLEASE NOTE that an aggrieved person, an adjacent Municipality, or the Provincial Director of Planning may appeal this decision to the Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board within 14 days of the date the notice was posted on the Municipal Webpage (December 19, 2025).
