No MOW MAY Help our bees and pollinators survive

Nature Conservancy of Canada suggests leaving lawns alone in May. This campaign aims to help pollinators, like honeybees and bumblebees by letting green spaces grow during the month of May to promote healthy habitats for our native pollinators. Pollinators play an important role in our environment by promoting the healthy production of many plants and crops. Letting our green spaces grow, allows pollinators to thrive and do their good work.

The Municipality of the County of Richmond will be participating by not mowing lawns on municipal properties from May 1 – 31, 2023. We encourage interested residents to also participate. The No Mow May campaign doesn’t ask you to do much. In fact, it asks you to not do anything at all…Just lock up your lawnmower on May 1st and let the wildflowers in your lawn bloom, providing a feast of nectar for our hungry pollinators.
