Can emergency responders find you?
The Municipality of the County of Richmond is reminding residents and business owners to make sure their assigned civic number is posted and easy to see from the road.
Your civic number helps fire, police, and paramedics find your home or workplace during a 911 call. Emergency responders rely on visible civic numbers to reach the right location as quickly as possible.
In an emergency, every minute matters. Please take a moment to check that your civic number is easy to read and not blocked by trees, bushes, signs, vehicles, or other objects. If your civic number is missing, damaged, or difficult to see, now is a good time to replace or reposition it.
Please make sure you:
✅ Post your civic number in front of your home or workplace.
✅ Make sure it is clearly visible from the road.
✅ Ensure the sign has enough light to be seen at night.
Need a civic address sign?
- The Province of Nova Scotia provides a list of civic address sign suppliers as a helpful starting point. The list may not include every supplier, and residents may choose any supplier that meets civic addressing requirements. https://www.novascotia.ca/sites/default/files/documents/1-1419/civic-address-sign-suppliers-en.pdf
- Residents may also contact local sign suppliers directly. One local business that has advised the Municipality it provides civic address signs is: Fleur de Lis Signs, 902-631-1642,
