The new water treatment plant has been completed and successfully commissioned. The plant has been operating since May 17th and has resulted in a substantial decrease in iron and manganese in the treated water. Customers should notice an improvement in water quality and a corresponding reduction in incidents of water discolouration. Please note that flow disturbances, such as hydrant use or significant water leaks, could still cause water discolouration - however the severity and duration of such events should be reduced. The Public Works Department will continue routine flushing operations until the level of sediment in the system is reduced sufficiently allowing us to extend intervals between routine flushing events.
Customers are encouraged to report any water discolouration to the Public Works Department by calling the Municipal Office at 902-226-2400 or 902-226-0586. The Public Works Department thanks customers for their patience.
