A special Emergency Meeting of Richmond Municipal Council was held on Monday, March 16, 2020. As part of a collective effort to reduce the spread of COVID-19, the health and wellness of residents and employees being the main priority, the municipality will take the following actions:

• The Richmond Arena facility will be closed for the season effective immediately.

• The Municipality of Richmond County Administration Office will close to the public effective March 17, 2020 at 8:30 AM.

 Residents looking to make payments on water/sewer/tax bills/tipping fees can do so via online payment or by mail.

 If visits to the Municipal administrative offices are required, please contact the office to make an appointment at 902-226-2400.

 All municipal committee meetings are being postponed and council meetings will only be held for essential items

• The Richmond Solid Waste Management Facility and curbside collection schedule will remain unchanged at this time, however the Municipality continues to monitor the situation and will re-evaluate as required.

 The Municipality of the County of Richmond is inviting applications for the position of Returning Officer for the Municipal Election to be held in October of 2020. The duties will include supervision of the enumeration and revisions, the procurement of the appropriate materials and staff to carry out the election, the provision of instruction and advice to election staff and candidates in accordance with the Provincial Municipal Elections Act, and having overall responsibility for conducting the 2020 Municipal Election.

Applications will be accepted by the undersigned until 4:00 p.m., March 6, 2020.

Multi-Purpose Trail Rehabilitation and Improvements


These funds are available to not-for-profit community groups that:

  • i) Have the authority to manage the trail
  • ii) Are registered through the Registry of Joint Stocks, and are in good standing
  • iii) Own the land where the repairs, rehabilitation or improvements will take place or have the landowner’s permission
  • iv) Have trail insurance

Examples of eligible initiatives

  • i) Re-surfacing
  • ii) Repairing trail/sign damage
  • iii) Addressing drainage issues
  • iv) Repairs to amenities such as washrooms, picnic tables, benches, and garbage cans
  • v) Replacing and repairing bollards, bridge railings, decking and superstructure
  • vi) Repairing/replacing culverts
  • vii) Other related trail improvements or repairs
