March is Amyloidosis Awareness Month
Richmond Municipal Council received a request from Jennifer Enright, a volunteer of The Canadian Amyloidosis Support Network (CASN), to proclaim March as Amyloidosis Awareness Month in the Municipality of the County of Richmond in the efforts to help raise awareness. Amyloidosis is a group of complex, rare diseases caused when an abnormal protein, (amyloid), deposits in various locations throughout the body, leading to organ impairment or failure. Early diagnosis allows treatment to begin before the amyloid protein burden in the body becomes too great to overcome, therefore, early diagnosis is the key to managing the disease.
If you or someone you know needs assistance, either as a caregiver or a patient, please reach out to Keith Dares, the Secretary of CASN for the Atlantic Canada region. Keith can be contacted via email at or by telephone 902-757-2711.
Keith was recently recognized as a Heart Hero by the World Heart Federation. To learn more, visit: https://world-heart-federation.org/heart-heroes/
