The Municipality of the County of Richmond is currently accepting applications for the full-time permanent position of Water - Wastewater System Operator.

Responsibilities

The position of Water / Wastewater System Operator, under the guidance and direction of the Operator Direct Responsible Charge (ODRC), is responsible for operation and maintenance of, and co-ordination and supervision of repairs to, water and wastewater treatment plants, wastewater pumping stations, water storage tanks, well-fields and associated components for the designated area of service.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Valid Nova Scotia Class 5 Driver’s License

The preferred candidate will have:
• Certified Water Treatment System Operator – Level I
   o Applicants with Operator in Training (OIT) Certification and/or relevant experience may be considered but will be required to obtain Level 1 Water Treatment Operator certification within 16 months of the date of hire
• Certified Water Distribution System Operator – Level 1
   o Applicants with Operator in Training (OIT) Certification and/or relevant experience may be considered
• Certified Wastewater Treatment System Operator – Level I
   o Applicants with Operator in Training (OIT) Certification and/or relevant experience may be considered but will be required to obtain Level 1 Wastewater Treatment Operator certification within 16 months of the date of hire
• Certified Wastewater Collection System Operator – Level I
   o Applicants with Operator in Training (OIT) Certification and/or relevant experience may be considered

Terms and Conditions of Employment

The regular hours of work for this position are Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4:00 pm with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break. Employees are required to be on standby and provide weekend coverage on a rotational basis. Employees may be required to work overtime based on operational requirements. The wage scale for this position is Level 5 with a current annual salary range of $53,329 to $66,662 ($29.30 to $36.63 per hour) plus benefits.
