Welcome to the Municipality of the County of Richmond! Richmond County offers entrepreneurs a wonderful balance of heavy industrial opportunities, a network of successful entrepreneurs and a ‘genuine maritime’ lifestyle.

Point Tupper Aerial View 2014 400Point Tupper is an anchor for the Strait of Canso and South Western Cape Breton Island. It has heavy industrial amenities and is home to companies like Port Hawkesbury Paper, Nova Scotia Power, NuStar Energy and our proposed Bear Head LNG. Richmond County is proud of its openness and acceptance to heavy industry.

Richmond has many beautiful coastal communities. Some communities simply focus on residential and lifestyle while others have employment and entrepreneurial opportunities such as Lobsters R Us and Premium Seafoods. Most communities have businesses that provide services such as home builders, hardware stores, medical and pharmacy, financial institutions, etc.

With one of the lowest residential tax rates in Nova Scotia and a very competitive business/commercial property tax rate, along with labour costs generally lower than in more urban parts of Nova Scotia, the Municipality of Richmond offers many advantages. Land is readily available throughout Richmond including our light and heavy industrial parks.

frankx17 edited 220Richmond County borders on the east coast’s finest harbour and Canada’s second busiest port (as measured in tonnage) - the Strait of Canso.  There is a new LNG project proposed, other LNG expansion plans and one of North Americans most advanced paper mills.

Richmond is embarking on a new tourism strategy that is focused around our incredible ocean and Bras d’Or Lake (Canada’s Inland Sea). There are many investment opportunities in developing a true tourism economy in this unspoiled coastal region.

We welcome you to take a closer look at working and living in one Canada’s most unspoiled locations.
