Compost Available – Richmond Solid Waste Management Facility

Effective Wednesday, May 15, 2013 compost will be available at the Solid Waste Management Facility for residents of Richmond County.

The compost has been tested to CCME guidelines and is considered Category A, unrestricted use, and can be used in any application. Lab results are available upon request.

Compost produced at the Richmond Solid Waste Management Facility is provided free of charge to residents who wish to load it themselves (shovels and containers are not available at the Waste Management Facility).

Loading fees will apply to residents wishing to be loaded using the Municipality’s heavy equipment. Residents wishing to be loaded must pre-pay at the Municipal office in Arichat and present their receipt to facility staff for loading. Compost will not be loaded without proof of payment.

Loading Fees:

Residential Customers - $20 / cubic yard (a cubic yard is approximately a ½ ton truck load)
Commercial Customers - $30 / cubic yard

In order to ensure that all residents have access to compost, quantities will be limited to 2 cubic yards per customer until Monday, May 27th, at which time compost will be available on a first come first serve basis.

Questions may be directed to the Richmond Solid Waste Management Facility at 226-2396.
