Civic Addresses

The primary mandate of civic addressing is to support emergency response services.  Emergency response providers use civic addresses to locate your property and rely on residents and businesses to have their civic numbers properly posted.

Getting assistance to emergency situations without delay is vital.  Without clearly posted civic numbers, emergency response providers could have difficulty locating you and may lead to longer response times in emergency situations.

Each dwelling and business within the Municipality of Richmond has or should have a civic number.  The Eastern District Planning Commission assigns civic address and maintains the Nova Scotia Civic Address File for Richmond.  If you have questions regarding your civic address please phone the Civic Address Coordinator at (902) 625-5366.

Posting Guidelines:

The Municipality has adopted a Civic Addressing By-Law, which provides residents and business owners with guidelines for proper posting of civic addresses.

Blue and white reflective plates can be order by contacting the following:

· Arichat Detachment of the R.C.M.P.
  Phone: (902) 226-2533

· Canal Trophy and Engraving
  St. Peter’s, NS
  Phone: (902) 535-3024

· Contact your local Volunteer Fire Department.
