The Municipality of the County of Richmond Public Works Department advises residents of Richmond County that the deadline for the submission of Water and/or Sewer Connection Applications for 2010 is Thursday, September 30th.  Applications are available at the Municipal Administration Building in Arichat or on-line at www.richmondcounty.ca

MUNICIPALITY OF THE COUNTY OF RICHMOND

Fall 2010 HEAVY GARBAGE COLLECTION

September 27 - October 23, 2010

A Heavy Garbage Collection Program will be carried out in Richmond County from September 27 to October 23, 2010. The following is the schedule for collection in your area:

Week 1 (Sept 27-Oct 2)
• Petit de Grat, Little Anse, Alderney Pt, Boudreauville
• St.Peter's , River Bourgeois
• Forchu, Grand River, Point Michaud, Lower L'Ardoise
 
Week 2 (October 4-9)
• Rocky Bay, Cap LeRonde, D'Escousse, Martinique
• Louisdale, Grand Anse, Lennox Passage
• L'Ardoise to St.Peter's
 
Week 3 (October 12-16)
• Arichat, Cap Auget, West Arichat , Janvrin's Island
• Lower River, Whiteside , Kempt Rd.
• Johnstown, Loch Lomond to St.Peter's
 
Week 4 (October 18-23)
• Remaining portions of Isle Madame
• Dundee, St.George's Channel, Samsonville, Black River, Oban, Seaview
• Remaining portions of Richmond East of St.Peter’s Canal

Material must be at the curbside by 8:00 AM, on the first day of the week in which collection is scheduled for your area. Any material placed after this time will not be collected.

Items placed for heavy collection shall not exceed 75 kg (165 lbs) in weight for any one item or 150 kg. (330 lbs) for all items for any one dwelling unit and no individual item shall measure more than 1.5 metres (5 ft.) in any dimension. In addition, the following items will not be collected under the program:

1. car bodies, large car parts (on-road tires will be accepted without rims);
2. trees, large branches or leaf and yard waste;
3. waste paint, waste oil or other fluids;
4. loose broken glass;
5. used batteries;
6. asbestos;
7. hazardous, reactive, septic or pathological waste;
8. dead animals;
9. refrigerators with attached doors (refrigerators must have doors removed);
10. waste placed in non-transparent bags (such as black, green or orange bags);
11. electronics waste such as desktop and laptop computers, keyboards, computer monitors, televisions, scanners, and printers (these materials should be taken to the Electronics Recycling Depot in St. Peter’s)
12. waste generated outside the Municipality;
13. waste placed in violation of Richmond’s Solid Waste Management By-Law;
14. any other materials deemed unacceptable by the Municipality.

Please place similar items such as metals and loose wood in separate piles at the curbside. Please note that no scavenging of materials at the curbside by third parties is permitted.
